It’s strange;

You laugh at my jokes and they aren’t funny

and it confuses me.

But, at the same time, it makes me feel like you are listening,

like someone is finally listening.

You are hearing me even if all I have to say

are complaints and jokes and silly things that don’t mean much

(at least not to anyone else).

You have brushed away the cobwebs surrounding me

and I’m not quite sure how you did it

and I’m not quite sure why you did it,

(Pity? Boredom? Something else?)

but I am very glad

that you did.
